If you're hoping to get the most out of your tires then you'll need to properly maintain them and keep them at the correct tire pressure. Doing so not only helps you stay safe on the road but also provides a plethora of performance benefits such as enhanced fuel economy and improved handling. Never fear, checking and keeping your tires properly inflated isn't as complicated as it sounds with help from our used car dealer in Pelham.

How to Check Your Vehicle's Tire Pressure

It's important to check all tires, including your spare, at least once a month as tires are known to lose up to 1PSI (pounds per square inch) every month. Simply follow the directions below to easily check your vehicle's tire pressure:

  1. To get started, you'll need to purchase a tire pressure gauge.
  2. Take care to check your tires when they are "cold" for the most accurate and consistent reading. Your tires will warm up as you drive due to friction and heat from the road, resulting in inaccurate tire pressure readings.
  3. Remove the valve cap and insert the tire pressure gauge into the valve stem on your tire to get a reading. Standard gauges will show a small bar rising to a measurement unit on the side of the gauge, while digital gauges show the reading on a screen.
  4. Compare the measured PSI to your vehicle's recommended levels found on the sticker inside the driver's side door or owner's manual and adjust accordingly until it reaches the proper tire pressure.

If you need assistance checking or filling your tires please don't hesitate to bring your vehicle to our Pelham service center for professional tire service. We'd be happy to help!
